Martin Cray
Martin started flying birds in Hampshire as teenager in the late seventies when a chance encounter led to a local falconer lending him a Kestrel. Since then he’s flown most of the shortwings but a move to London to work in the advertising industry meant the falconry had to go on hold for a fair few years.
During that time he worked on learning to fly himself. Having heard about a Frenchman who flew his Hangglider with a trained golden eagle he decided that was the path to follow. In 1988 He had his 1st Paragliding lesson and in 1999 finally achieved a lifelong ambition when he flew alongside his specially trained Peregrine, Bella. Coincidently it was the acquisition of Bella that rekindled his interest in falconry and on 2001 he was able to achieve another lifelong dream of flying Peregrines at grouse.
Nowadays his time is split between working as a cameraman, and flying raptors for unversity research work.
